Bayer has long been a supporter of the Grain industry with its strong presence at the annual Grain SA Congresses.
This year marked the first joint presence of Bayer and legacy Monsanto under the Bayer banner, with Crops Science’s Africa Cluster Head, Klaus Eckstein delivering the vision of the newly integrated entity.
A highlight on the grain calendar, the congress aims to promote collaboration and partnership between industry and growers with focus on tackling critical industry related challenges and questions. Working under the theme for this years’ congress ‘A critical reflection for a new footprint’, Bayer used the opportunity to consult with South African grain producers regarding challenges in the grain and oilseeds industry.
According to Crop Science’s Mary Willemse, Campaign and Customer Insights Manager, “Bayer’s key message at the congress was a call for Industry to focus on shaping agriculture through tailored agronomic solutions built that can be built on on 6 pillars; DEKALB Genetics, Biotechnology, Seed Growth, Crop Protection, Digital Farming, and our People.”
This key message was particularly important because Grain SA is the industry organisation for South African Grain growers and, Willemse adds, “As a key role player in this industry they are in a position to influence what happens in the agriculture industry. It is for this reason that Bayer used the Congress as a platform to engage with leading grain growers and key stakeholders industry. “
Keynote speakers included industry experts who discussed the political and economic environment as well as the grain market environment.
Congratulations to Jaco Minnaar on re-election as GSA Chairman. We thank you for your continued service and commitment.
"Science may never come up with a better communication system than the coffee break.”
Bayer’s coffee station at the annual GSA Congress was a hit."
We love our growers’ commitment and love for the land.
